Jacque Tara Washington
I started acting in community theater and soon earned my Actors’ Equity card while performing in repertory theater in upstate New York. During my theater studies at Syracuse University, there was not much opportunity for me to perform in the plays that were chosen by faculty, so I began to write and produce my own one-woman performance pieces, which turned out to be very successful.
As I began to get more acting opportunities after college, I continued to write one-woman pieces and continue to this day. In my own writing, I get to say what I think is important, meaningful and fun! I still like ensemble work, however, and love to interact with grounded actors who are disciplined but don’t take it all too seriously. I am currently an adjunct actress with Cornell Interactive Theatre Ensemble presenting at various universities and corporations throughout America.
